So I've read over most of the threads related to installing the KVH system (KVH M1) and I'm still unclear on a few items. If anyone has any recommendations on the below items please chime in, specifically on a 320 or 340.

1. What is the best way to run the cable from the arch to the receiver? I would like to keep the glomex intact for free hd broadcast. I plan on mounting the receiver in the cabinet that housed the old mid cabin television since I've added a flat screen to the bulkhead over the aft cabin. I currently have coax and rca/component runs to both. KVh comes with a 50' cable so I will have to run it down the port side or directly to the bulkhead in front of the helm.

2. Since the TV is not on DC and I have no desire to run it on DC should I just install the receiver on AC? Are there any ill effects from the receiver being powered off every time we go between shore and generator power?

My next step would be to call kvh but I prefer to get some specific info vs a general overview.

Thanks

Connect the receiver to a UPS( like for computer) Receiver will never shut down.
U can also connect stereo and TV - they will stay on without a hitch during crossover

I put one on a 2000 340 and ran down port side. Just use a snake and pull it through very slow do not put much tenson on cable run behind bath and frig. Run 12 volt feed down to kvh box glomax line is to small. I picked up power off exaust fan.

Cable run completed, will be hooking up the rest when the warm weather returns.

Looks great. Definitely get used to the extra height, but if you have an 8' vhf mast, it's probably taller than that. I have the nautical creations mount as well. One other note - you might ditch the cotter pin lock down for the anchor mast light, and just go with a good stainless nut/bolt.

Pretty happy with the end results. the install was pretty straight forward. I just need to cut down the stock bolts that came with the kvh as they were way longer than i needed.

but it looks great to me!
