I ordered one of these over the weekend and plan to install it on my pooper tank. Yes Virgina you can poop in my boat's head!

Will post picks as I install it. I plan to have a waterhose hookup installed on one of my cocpit panels so I don't have to lift the engine hatches for access. So while I am sucking the crap out I can hook up this neat device and spray my tank clean.

I have had Tornados in my holding tanks for several years and they are fabulous. However, there are some important differences between boats and RV's so you are kind of on your own when it comes to installation instructions:

Do not install in the side of the tank. The tanks are blow molded poly and not much of anything sticks to it long term. When the leak occurs to one mounted in the side of the tank, you will have a mess and a stinky boat for a long time.

Mount the Tornado on top of the tank as near the center as possible.

Use only 5200 sealant and understand it will eventually become just a gasket not stick to the tank.

Flush a good slug of Dawn detergent down the head before turning on the Tornado, then leave some Dawn in the tank when done.

Do not try to inject the Dawn into the tornado....the outlet holes are too small.

Whatever you do, do not make or leave a permanent connection between your onboard water system and the Tornado. If you do and turn the water pumps off, the fumes (and God only knows what else) from the holding tank can enter the water system. Aside from being illegal, it might make your morning coffee taste weird. I get around this by using hose quick-connects on the tornado and leave a plug in one when I'm not using it.

Thanks Frank. Top it is. No hooking to freash water tank. What does the Dawn do? Never heard of that idea.

I do have a question. In the RV world when you pull up to a dump station (as opposed to a pump out station), there is a big sign by the dump statimg "This is not potable water!" meaning do not used this water to fill your freash water tank.......Well duhhhh

So why do boat pump out stations not have the same? (At least in OR and WA).

While I've never had a problem with the tank (odor wise) this might make a good addition. Can't wait to hear how it turns out.

Probably because most marinas hook get their water from a treated city water supply, but the real reason is because some doofus before you got there, shoved the water hose down in his holding tank to flush it while he dumped his load. It isn't so much the water, as where the hose has been.

I don't even want to think about the problems one could have with bacteria in a water system if it got contaminated with somebody's holding tank "proceeds".

What you can't use that old green garden hose to rinse your holding tank? Oh...Oh....

Note to self do not fill water tank up at dumping station.......

Now thats a "Cool Mod" worth having! - Its even FW approved!

As waste sits in a holding tank, it sort of settles. The Dawn detergent helps break down the deposits and lets you wash them away when you pump out the tank. Use it or not, the Tornado is a nifty piece of work.

But, don't let the noise they make concern you...................

Now that was nasty Frank! (the contaminated hose part)

This is a pretty good idea. In the past after flushing out the system I use to open the top to the tank(good way to get rid of unwanted guess) and use a hose, But this is much better. I also started to use galgon water softner which I would pour into the tank after flushing out the system. It doesn't let anything stick to the side of the tank. I can actually see the level of crap in my tank. It makes for a cleaner tank.

Just use the noflex digestor I told you about...... you won't need any of that stuff.

One thing to remember if your going to start using noflex. Pump your holding tank out and then fill it with water and pump it out again at least once to get rid of the old chemicals.

Well, I installed it and put a hose fitting on one of my panels so I don't have to open any hatches for access. I used it for the first time this past weekend and I must say it worked great. Leasons learned:

1. Tighten hose clamp (don't ask why but I am wet),
2. Make sure tank is empty before using
3. Monitor the tank level to make sure you don't over fill it.
