This is capitalism in action. In some markets, buyers markets, free market prices rule.
In SELLERS markets. . .a gentleman's agreement is sometimes reached where were everyone charges the same price. That way, the customer is happy because he knows he isn't being ripped off. The buisness man is happy because he doesn't always have to watch what the other guy is doing. Can focus on other parts of the biz. No hurt feelings.
I bet the crowd in NJ got tired of perpetual price wars with each other. . .and basically everyone started charging list price for everything.
Its not about "passing savings to customers". Its about maximizing profits.
