Since we're on the subject of Shaft packing and shafts etc, Is there supposed to be a groove on the shaft where it meets the packing or is that from wear? I have -0- experience with inboards so this a first for me. This boat (88 300, Weekender) The shafts are not connected to the engine and one engine is out so I can slide them in and out a bit to see it.
