For many years I've winterized my boats by draining; the leg, the block, the risers, and the cool fuel, and then disconnecting and draining the raw water side of the heat exchanger as well as the power steering cooler. After reading all the internet "advice" there is out there and after talking to a few other boaters, it sounds like I should be either blowing all these passages out as well or circulating some "pink stuff" through it all via the raw water inlet. Have I just been really luck or are these steps really necessary in an area that gets to 15 or 20 degrees F for a couple of months each year?

The only thing I think you loose by not refilling with antifreeze, is the corrosion protection (and this obviously assumes you get the pink with the corrosion protection).
