In need of a new capacity plate, any suggestions?

The capacity plate on my 1993 Sea Ray 180 is wiped totally clean. I contacted Sea Ray and was told they are not available. I've read about people having new ones made, or engraved at a trophy shop, using the old tag as a template. I have no template to work with, and can't find a picture on the internet. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can buy a new one without spending an arm and leg to nmma? Thanks

Try the collectible car vendors. It is pretty common place to reproduce a factory VIN plate so accurate that only someone who can identify the type of rivet used in OEM can identify them.

That is why there are more 427 Camaros out there than Chevrolet produced.

Plus Shelby Mustangs, if you're looking at a Camaro you need to look for the 2 hidden ones till 69, then they started stamping it in even the axle housing if I remember right 70's & up had the vin or partial vin in 20 places. Shelby's had the vin in 4 places no Ford vin plates were installed if I remember right, wish my 68 GT500 didn't end up in a tree, the insurance company totaled it with $2200 damage in 1969.

just a heads up, Outboard Decals and Garzon Studio cannot reproduce without a template. Any suggestions where to find a template?

Can you google one and use MS Paint to modify the image?

I am not sure if this is helpful but if you have the owners manual the plate outline dimensions etc should be on there - like this one for the 185 on page 1.6 http://www.searay.com/boat_graphics/electronic_brochure/Company1729/1C1_23_74DEJAL4797.pdf - is this, combined with your worn plate, enough to get a replica made?

gumbyjb, I've done dozens of searches, but have had no luck finding the same make and model, but thanks. SeaAyeOwe, that's a great suggestion, thanks. I don't have the owners manual, but hopefully will have better luck finding that online than the plate itself.
