I am off to Cancun in the morning and I currently have an engine tranny that needs to be replaced and I just haven't had the chance to do it. so my question is can I run my 1999 400 sedan bridge on just one engine. I only want to go to the island which is maybe 4 miles away and we will drive it slow.

Is there any problems associated with doing this? Thanks so much.

Should be no Problem as long as you don't want to plane out!... And are not going from "Canada to Cancun"

I'm pretty sure you have dripples shaft logs. If so, you should check to see that you have a crossover cooling from one shaft log to the other. If so, then you are ok as the one engine will proved cooling to both shafts. If not, you could either run the engine with the downed tranny and leave it in neutral (this will provide cooling for that shaft log) or you could mechanically 'lock' the downed side shaft so it won't spin. Typically this is done by tying it down with line or other physical means such as a large wrench.

Last year I had the oil pressure go to zero on my port engine. I shut it down . I was about 10 miles from home and ran at about 6 knots. It was the gauge of course. I didn't think about the shaft cooling issue, but I have not seen any problems to date. The auto pilot handled the steering.
