I have 2 AC units (guest stateroom and master stateroom) that are throwing a P5 or PS error on both. Not sure what this means, but when it happens the units shut off. Can anyone help?

High pressure safety trigger. AC strainer probably full of muck restricting water flow. Clean the strainers.

In the Engine Room. If it is like my boat, there is one strainer connected to one thru hull feeding both AC's.

Make sure you turn off the water supply to your a/c, via the seacock. It's a lever that needs to be in the off position, to stop water from entering through where your strainer access is.

My guess is, if you have not cleaned the strainer in a long time, you are going to need to flush the water lines also. We are sitting in 85-90 degree water right now. I have to blow lines out about every 2 weeks. Not a hard job, but if you are uneasy about doing, it will be well worth having someone who knows how to do it. You will be amazed at the efficiency difference.

I am also experiencing poor water flow out of the forward master state room air conditioner pump, Have not seen the error codes yet. Have just one strainer and that is clean. So how do you blow out the line?

Probably a vapor lock on the pump. I disconnected the supply hoses (white 1/2" plastic coming off the pump) to the fore/aft AC units. You'll get a little wet and I would recommend you practice sliding the hoses back on the pump quickly before you do this procedure. Turn on both units so the pump is pumping. Put the hoses back on and make sure both units are flowing outside. Tighten up clamps should be good to go.

I have to flush my A/C line monthly or so in the heat of the season. My system has one pump for both units, there is a water manifold at the pump that splits the flow between the forward berth and salon units. I disconnect each hose individually at the manifold, connect my garden hose from the dock, then flush and run the system on fresh water for 10 min or so. Connect to the other unit and repeat. Flushes out a lot of silt, etc. I also put a slow-dissolving chlorine tab (swimming pool stuff) in the strainer to kill any growth. There is enough flow in the system to dissolve the tab within few hours and with this much flow a little chlorine isn't hurting anything in the system. Has worked for me so far.

If you have one pump feeding both units, forward unit will inevitably flow less than the salon one. It will also get silted up more quickly. Water has to travel farther, thus less pressure...

I assume you have 2 ACs and one pump. Remove the outlet hose from the pump. You will need a fitting from the hardware store that will accept a dock water hose and adapt to the outlet hose. Hook up using hose clamps, and turn dock water on full blast. Let run 10-15 minutes. You will be amazed at the crap that blows out.

You can screw the spare end cap connector that comes with the head charcoal filter to the garden hose. The other side will go into the HVAC hose.
