something I don't normally do. I decided to splurge on some new polarized sunglasses instead of my cheapos I generally get. I am not a fan of Oakleys, but wanted still wanted a version that wrapped enough to keep the wind out of my eyes when running down the river, so I went looking and found a pair of Puma sunglasses that are great and the lens are vented so they shouldn't fog up. I believe they are called the puma track II. If you are looking for a decent pair of glasses but don't want to spend maui jim prices, check them out.

If you are looking for a real deal, campmor has some other Puma polarized glasses for about $20. I'll probably buy a couple of pairs to keep as spares on the boat.

Back to your normal programming, but I figured at least the campmor versions could save some folks some squid.

Light is a energy wave. The light from the sun has waves in all directions. Traditional sunglasses with UV protection reduce the amount of light that can pass thru the lense.

Reflected light, like the light that is reflected off water is somewhat polarized, meaning the waves line up.

When you wear polarized lenses, meaning lenses that have very small scratches in a specific straight pattern, and this pattern is not the same and the reflected (polarized) light the intensity of this light is reduced by a factor much greater then the non-reflected light.

This is why polarized lenses help reduce glair yet don’t make your vision so limited as very dark sunglasses.

My plug would not be for any one brand however would be to pick a pair of polarizes sunglasses for boating.

From experience with polarized sunglasses you may have some difficulties viewing LCD screens from other than a straight on shot. I decided not to use polarized lens for that reason.

Anyway, just for information.

True... the ipod, gps, bberry etc, get a funny blotchiness to them and when driving you can see all sorts of funny patterns in the windows of newer cars.

That being said, the glare reduction is great on the boat and the fish are now very, very afraid as I can see their hulking black backs deeper in the muddy water. Watch out Mr. Large Mouth, I can now see you following that tube... and know you are down there.

RT,
I did a search and didn't find anything on Puma Track II. Where did you get them?

I have some costa del mars but a cheap pair to keep on the boat just in case would be nice!

i changed from regular sunglasses to polarized sunglasses last season. A world of difference on the water; especially as im navigating the Long Island Sound with all those f#^%@$# oyster/lobster pots all over the place!

Ah, those were the days, "Cheap Sunglasses". :smt043 Ah, lets see, Costa Del Mar's with Polarized lens, bifocals and prescription...$400 boaters bucks. :smt089 I wish I could some cheap sunglasses.
