Something broke between motor and lower unit. I'm kinda new to boating and wondering what to do next. Does insurance cover a tow.
 
Turbo Tim, insurance will likely cover a tow - i called my ins co (am fam) this spring to make sure.
 
I am at King's Cove and will be heading toward Prescott and up the St Croix in the next couple of hours. If I see ya, I will tow ya in. :thumbsup:
 
(Yawn) well that was a good nap at least. Off to call insurance. Good thing I got lots of food.
 
I did get a BOATUS membership. So I can get towed tommarow. I couldn't quite afford the tow even after insurance reimburses me. If anyone is around though I could give them ssome money to tow me to prescottt. Its much nicer then sitting here
 
Did you check your email? This mornig, I sent you the name of a guy (and a phone number) I know who's out on the St. Croix this weekend and would probably love to make some extra money.
 
Well suprisingly that turned out to be quite a fun weekend. A friend towed me down to prescott and we stayed at the dock there for another day and I towed the boat home later. It gave me a chance to get another axle on my trailer as it was only a single axle and I never had the boat off the trailer with me not on it.
 
Thanks for all the help from everyone though. Sorry I didnt see everyones posts as I was just posting and reading on my phone.

Here are the pics of the carnage. I think the seal where the shaft goes into the upper unit was leaking. So I am hoping with a good cleaning the lower should be good. Hope to see everyone next week though.
 
FWIW In the future for all of you that boat the St. Croix--

I got a tow from these folks last year when my Mercruiser decided to suck in one of the flappers. I have no association with them other than they rescued/towed a buddy and I at 9:00 on a Sat. night last September. Although we were about 300 yards S. of Kinnikinnik State Park-we had no food and were down to the last beer.
