We have had remnants of hurricanes blow through Kentucky before but I have not seen this much sustained wind. In my neighborhood in Louisville, hundreds of trees down. Three neighbors with large trees on houses. Transformers are blowing and on fire to the point that smoke is filling the air and at times you can't see 20 to 30 feet. 250,000 without power, so far. I'l guess that damage in the Louisville area will be several million dollars

Not one drop of rain. Just wind.

And I'm better off than most.

Sucks

Where is Brownie when you need him?

We don't have the wind part yet here, but with all of the rain from this system, I think I may move the family and me to the boat...we may need to be there..along with 2 of just about everything!

We have had steady strong rain since Friday nite. We spent Friday and half of Saturday anchored out and it continues to pour rain. We've picked up 4+" so far at our weather station on the dock. It is supposed to rain until 4:00AM and dry out the rest of the week. The water is up noticeably but that could be the effect of low pressure. Our small lake is at the same level as Lakes Michigan and Huron.

45 mph with gusts 70 to 80 mph.

What is remarkable is that the gusts are coming every 2 - 3 minutes. I have never heard more trees crack and break over such a long period of time. It looks like most of the wind is gone now but this kept up for four solid hours.

Now the sound of chain saws. I've got to get mine fired up.

Oh, and remember the Ryder Cup is here this coming weekend. I suspect that Vahalla, the course hosting the Cup is torn-up. I know the tents that have been set up are beat to hell.

See you later.

Sunny, 86F, 6 knts winds. Nice day for boating here. Too bad my wife made other plans. Oh well

We didn't get nearly the rain we expected, but a lot of gusty wind. Two golfers were killed when a tree blew down and crushed their cart. Wind advisory through 7pm.

Cincinnati got hit bad with wind, no rain however (good for those of us with sump pumps in our houses). At one point last night they were estimating 90% of residents without power. Ours has been out since 2:00 PM yesterday, We live in a neighborhood with a lot of older trees, tons were down. Most houses will need new roofs or siding from the wind. Dealing with that was stil better than watching the Bengals lose.

We had a huge storm come through before the remnants of Ike. My guess is that if Ike hadn't been around, the weather story of the weekend would have been the front that spread from Colorado to Boston. It dropped about 9" on our part of SE Iowa from Thursday to Saturday, and then Ike contributed 2" more. Luckily, neither the front nor Ike was a wind event.
