I was wondering if anyone knows of a source online or a store that carries this type of connector. I plan on upgrading my Rule In-Line Bilge Blower to a Jabsco continuous duty bilge blower and I want to make sure the connector is the proper type. I also want the same connector so I can easily switch back to the Rule blower if the Jabsco craps out for some reason. I don't run the engine or generator without the blower on at all times... :wow:

Thanks in advance!

Those connectors are neither sealed nor ignition protected. Most connectors are not ignition protected as they don't spark unless you are fooling around with them, which you shouldn't be doing if you have a bilge full of gas vapor.

Best regards,
Frank

Franks right but, to answer your question, they look like GM weatherpak connectors. Search ebay for a kit for them. Each side, whether male or female have 3 pieces to them, Body, grommet and pin. You will also need the correct crimper for them and a release tool for if you need to remove the wire. I keep a variety of them around and use them whenever something needs replacing as an upgraded connector.

That's it! http://www.repairconnector.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/23650/subcatid/0/id/330834

The connectors ARE sealed and are for harsh environments per this PDF: http://delphi.com/shared/pdf/ppd/connect/wthpk.pdf They are not ignition proof though.

Thanks a million!

Nice article and sources for these bad boys... http://www.superchevy.com/hotnews/sucp_0205_weather_pack_electrical_connectors/index.html

I'd keep it simple and just cut off the factory connectors (you don't need a quick disconnect- you're not going to remove the blower unless it fails) and use quality heat-shrink butt connectors to wire the new one.

Have you double checked the amp draw for the continuous rated duty blowers against the breaker for this circuit? The stock Rule units have a 4.3 amp draw each, my EIM has each blower on its own 6 amp breaker. The Jabsco 35400 series draw 12 amps each.....you may have already checked this though....

The Jabsco 35770 Flexmount I bought pulls 11 Amps and the installation PDF recommends a 15 Amp fuse. I've already located the blower fuse (had to pull each fuse to find out which fuse was attached to what - the electrical diagram for my boat did not match nearly anything... :smt021 ) and have a 15 Amp fuse ready for the install.

I'll probably make thing easier if I just cut the wires between the Rule blower and the Weather Pak connector and just wire the Jabsco blower wires to the existing Weather Pak connector using some Ancor Adhesive Lined Heat Shrink 16-14 AWG Butt Connectors. That should keep everything water proof.
