Ignition problem with 1988

Trying to start - just get a "click" and nothing ....
Tried about tten times and then it started to turn over and fired up - works fine now ...thought maybe solenoid? But the noise is ot eminating from that area
Any thoughts.?

remote starter slave solenoid on top of the engine...not solenoid on the starter.....happened to my engine with exact same symptoms...it will get worse with time until finally it will not start at all....very common problem....

Replaced the starter solenoid on our 89 and problem solved.
