I'm purchasing a 2007 230 select from a private owner. Starting the engine is done buy flipping a toggle switch on the dashboard. I was told that there was a hidden location for the actual key and the dash stays clear from dangling key chains. My question is where is this key located? Would the engine start if there was no key inserted in an ignition> Must be somewhere??

Thanks

My keys are located in the electrical panel in the saloon.

i have two keyed ignition switches (one for each engine) in the electrical control panel as well as two breakers...all of these must be on to start the engines....on the dash i have two spring loaded rocker switches to start/stop the engines....

You will need the key to activate the system. Then control on/off throughout the day with the toggle switch. In some sport boats, there's a locking on/off switch - others there's a simpler looking control panel for the key (a black plate). It's sometimes in different spots in different boats - but check the starboard, gunwale storage - towards the front of the storage area.

In my SLX, there's a panel with all sorts of goodies (stereo, shore power switches, 12V outlet, and of course, ignition key switches) in the compartment directly in front of the helm.

Our 210 select has a keyed battery switch. It can remain unlocked or can be locked when shut off. We don't have an ignition switch actually. Ours starts with the toggle switch also. Safe boating
