Ignition and timing

So after rebuilding the carb and cleaning the fuel system my boat still has some trouble idling And now after a long run it will diesel for a few seconds before shutting off. I would assume this is a timing issue. Question is does my 1999 3.0 have points or an electric ignition

Run on will happen if its idled up too high. Highly doubt a 99 would be using points, pop off the cap and have a look. Mercruiser has a parts lookup site.
