My charger recently failed and now seems ok, it is charging now after customer service told me about the super secret fuse inside the unit that is NOT mentioned in the documentation. Mine requires a fuse that is an odd size: 8 amp 250 volt mid size glass tube design. This fuse is on the AC side and seem to be a surge protector of some kind. If you have one of these units you should determine what fuse fits yours and get a few in your emergency kit. MM

How does one determine where this fuse is? Take the thing apart? I hate taking stuff apart that is working.

What problem were you having? My friend has a 24V Promatic and I am wondering if the problem he is having can be due to the hidden fuse?

Abruptly stopped charging, no lights or humming sound. Customer support said if that was not it then I had to send it in. MM

I have the 1220i, it was located on the AC end so the terminal cover had to be removed and then a perforated cover loosened to get access. I would hope customer service could tell you the fuse type. MM

Maybe we could PM the ProMariner guy that is on here, he should know.

Maybe you can do that... I'm having real issues with "customer service" these days... The promariner guy will probably pull a Rose Point and tell me my unit was stolen and hang up on me.

I just read the other thread and Jim is who I spoke with. He was great to me. Just be nice to him. MM

Those fuses are in many chargers. They are generally used to protect against reverse polarity to protect the unit.

Where were you a year ago when I replaced my ProMariner charger? I had the option of sending it in, but the stoopid thing failed just before a two week trip.

I have a Xantrex Freedom 3000 and it puked on me. I was ready to pull and ship it off as it was still under warranty. I called their service dept. and was told about the super secret fuse that it holds in it's belly..... Odd size & millivolt but it saved me a R&R !

Glad you posted this I have the older C-Charger I was going to replace the lead acid batteries with agm's after reading this I got out the manual my charger has either 2 or 3 fuses depending on how many banks 1 for the AC side 7amp 250volt slo-blo, 1 or 2 bank dc side 30amp 125volt fast acting. After reading the manual it states either an irregular condition or load can blow the fuse if after replacing it blows again contact customer support. I also found out my charger will not charge agm or gel batteries it's to old no switch to change charge type glad I found out before burning up a couple new batteries.
