If you had to rank your boat upgrades - what would be your top two or three???

1. Inverter system - Being able to have coffee/breakfast quietly with out the generator. Liked it so much I'm upgrading the upgrade this year to a Victron 24V version.
2. New Fridges - Isotherm 65 for the cockpit, and the dual compressor Nova Kool RFU9200 in the Galley Food kept cool not frozen, and frozen things are frozen. what a concept!
3. Upgraded Electronics, most importantly Doppler radar. Huge safety improvement.
How has the Isotherm 65 been treating you? What made you decide on that brand instead of the others like Norcold, Dometic and NovaKool?

A dock neighbor had an isotherm. They make great products. My one complaint on the Isotherms is they are slightly skinnier and require some trim work when replacing a Norcold.

For the main fridge, I went with a Nova Kool. More standard sized and I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Most if not all marine fridges these day use the same AC/DC secop compressor, so it’s really about fit and finish.

Without a doubt the best upgrade I had put on Beachcomber was the underwater exhaust outlet. It was so quiet you could hardly hear the genset when it was running.

Second was a larger upgraded bow thruster. Instead of an 8" tube I went with one that needed a 10" tube. Made all the difference in the world.

Third would be adding extensions to the trim tabs and the running surface between the tabs.

Are you sure it's not the JL Audio speaker(s) in the hardtop?

But to your point, the polycarbonate is great for the front windscreen. I love it also.
Hi SKybolt
I'm just about to remove the front windscreen frame as it has some corrosion on it and Im planning to get it re powdercoated, Im curious about your comment on the polycarbonate replacement, what do you see as the benefit you have gained. Just in case my glass breaks and I need to replace it !!

Also, swapping the digital FLOSCAN tachometers and fuel system, showing me that 2200-2400 is a far more efficient cruise than 2000-2200.

Oh, and the new dash panels, labeled/illuminated NEWWIRE MARINE contura 5 switches

BEST !

My comment was regarding the isinglass replacement and not the windscreen. But for me, I replaced the "Isinglass" front window(s) with polycarbonate. You can see through them like they are glass and it doesn't distort your vision at all. But the best part is when I fold them back over my head they snap in without sagging and the corners don't hit me on the head on every jolt while at cruise.

Ah Ha my mistake, I am though considering renewing my complete canvass set as well and would like to see photos of the polycarbonate replacement for the ”isinglass” (both in-situ and stowed) if you have any you would be willing to share as I’ve never been able to tension mine to get them to look flush.
thanks for the prompt response.

I'll try to stay on point. This will be our 4th season with this boat, and our list of upgrades and replacements would probably be 50 lines long quite frankly. I think the best upgrades we've made have been:

Replaced helm seat pedestal with a new Garelick that's taller, and no longer wobbles.
Custom mattress.
Replaced all the electronics-everything.
Replaced every light with LED's.
Had custom stainless extensions made for the AC cooling outlets, as I couldn't stand the crap that ran down the side of the hull.
PlasDeck in the cockpit, and swimform. No more carpet to clean!

Hi Tom, do you have any photos of the AC stainless ext you had made? Sounds like an awesome idea. Thanks

You can use double male hose union (plastic) from a box store. They work great, no drips.
