I come to this site for many reasons, mostly to help others if I can, and then to get help. The good folks on this site have taught me a ton; I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge, to teach me. And along the way enjoy some friendly dockside banter. When I am replying I try to picture myself in front of the person or sitting at the dock having dock talk, maybe over a beer or a cup of coffee, sometimes with a group of boating buds.

If my words and/or behavior bother you, please do not "air your dirty laundry" if you will, take passive aggressive jabs at me, in a public thread. You are not going to "teach me a lesson" here. You are welcome to PM me. I will even share my phone # over PM if it's necessary.

You can also volunteer to be a moderator if you want to police my comments/threads. I have no issues with that at all. If I am the bad apple in this forum I will leave.

Communication in a public forum like this can be a challenge. Hell, face to face communication is a challenge sometimes :) Unless we have met (and I have met many of you in person), we really do not know the person on the other end, their intent, their motivation, what's going on in their life, etc. Please do not make assumptions, guesses, and then comment.

I am trying to practice Emotional Intelligence here and in all communications/relationships in my life. I trip and fall down, I try to get back up, apologize, and try harder the next time.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Thanks,

Greg

Never bothered me. I mean sometimes you’re just flat out wrong but I never let it bother me.

Don't let others get you down.
The usual suspects are quick to throw knives…

I play tennis with Babolat rackets. Every time I see your boat name I think it says Babolat.

Thanks, they are.

This was not so much a thread about do you like me or not, if I bother you or not; rather if this, contact me directly, don't take passive aggressive jabs at me in a public thread. And also a reminder to everyone, self included, to try to do the same.

I am never wrong; misguided or misinformed perhaps, but never wrong ;)

I can't find it now but my dad had this quote framed and hanging in the house, something like "The Captain is never wrong..."

EDIT: Found it

I may 'argue' with some in the holding tank but for me what happens in the holding tank stays in the holding tank. Even though @Cdillerud and @Iprof are wrong, outside of the holding tank all is forgotten and we are all on the same team...lol

I am not communicating what I am trying to say well. Basically, I don't understand why some feel they need to police/moderate/berate/bully/show malice/teach someone a lesson in public threads. Respectfully argue, debate, challenge all you like. Don't try to embarrass me with your judgment in a thread though, come to me directly if I am bothering you that much. Or better yet, pause, calm down, maybe it's not what you think it is, do nothing.

It's no different in the non-virtual digital world. I'd like to think you'd come to me directly versus telling everyone else, in front of me, passive aggressively, what your issues are with me. And then getting a kick from your present fans who "Like" what you said, perhaps they give you an in-person Thumbs Up...

Sadly it's more of a reflection of your character than is it mine.

Yesterday, I started a thread with a easy solution I came up with to prevent cap jams(if you dont know what that is just humor me) as a public service because its a major problem on BP revolvers and I eliminated them on mine. By 5th post it became a concealed carry thread, by the the 8th, it became a Texas is great and all northern states suck. I ain’t making this up.

The reason you don't understand is you probably were not born with the douchebag gene.

I always gauge others actions concerning me by the amount of respect I have for them.
If the amount of respect I have for them is zero, the amount that I care what they say is pretty much the same.
Dont let the two or three db's on the board bother you.

3 members have been "poking this bear" in various threads. I have respectfully asked them why with PMs, no replies or replies where they deflected by continuing to point out my flaws, mock me and not taking responsibility for their actions. So I chose to fired back in some of the various threads, which was wrong, I should not have done that and regret it.

That's the nice way of saying it...

Well not knowing the details, my opinion is on any social media platform there are certain types of people that just enjoy antagonizing others anonymously - keyboard warriers. Probably something they would never do face to face. I think most are like me, pretty easy going, just enjoy talking with others about our boating hobby -- but like even the cutest lap dog, poke me hard enough and I will bite. Sounds like you got fed up and bit back, maybe they will learn to keep their hands out of mouth!
