Twin 7.4L Horizons w/ Hurth V-Drives
Good Morning - Recently submitted a thread which may have been too wordy so I'll cut to the chase. Need to winterize my cockpit icemaker. Currently does not make ice and need to know if disconnecting the water supply line at the "T" by the H/W heater to allow to drain will be sufficient.

Also have 7.4 FWC horizons with fresh water flush kits installed for flushing raw water system and want to know if I can close seacocks and add antifreeze through the flush kits to winterize the raw water system.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Draining the water system before the ice maker is not enough. There is a 12v selonoid switch/valve that allows water to flow into the unit when needed. That switch/valve has to be drained....and any water past that must also be drained.

Remove the ice maker and you will see it on the back of the unit.

The winterizing process in the manual tells you to shut water off and let the icemaker run to flush all water through the system. I'm not sure all the water will run out without pressure, so I would remove it where it taps in and let it drain. This should drain the water control valve as well.

I disconnected the supply line coming into the icemaker and then disconnected the line that runs from the solenoid to the tray. I blew through the line to the tray to clear any water. I leave the supply line loose till spring. Make sure your water pump is off prior to disconnecting and in the spring make sure you reconnect it before you turn your pump on. You will have a mystery leak for a few minutes till you remember what it is.... Ask me how I know!
