For those of you (us) that dont have a fridge but that ice box/cooler thing does anyone use it? I have heard some people freeze milk cartons and put that in there to keep things cold. Does this work? Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Use the frozen milk jugs to bring the temp of the cooler down, but get some of those Blue Ice things and freeze them for at least 24 hours before you go out.

The Blue Ice containers take up a lot less room in the cooler than milk jugs and hold their cold temperatures longer.

Does it actually keep anything cold like beer?

Get one of the large cushion coolers which also doubles as extra seating.

Dry ice wrapped in newspaper or butcher paper will stay for days and keep things very cold. I use a separate ice chest for long trips and keep frozen food frozen this way. If you don't wrap the ice with a few layers you will crack the liner but it works great!

I am a dealer and have been for a very long time; for Yeti Coolers (YetiCoolers.com) and they are awesome! They will keep ice for an extremely long time, especially if you pre-ice them. The fiberglass series is gel coated and looks super sharp in the cockpit. If anyone is interested send me a PM and I can get you pricing (cheapest around).

My wife has to eat gluten free food. This means we can't buy food at normal restaurants and we must bring everything with us. I needed a cooler for food only and must be able to keep items cold for at least two days.

After much research I bought a cooler from aocoolers. We use the Rubbermaid blue ice and the cooler stays cold for several days.

We use the boat's fridge for extra storage only and use the built-in cooler in the cockpit to keep drinks cold.

I have plenty of coolers I was just inquiry about the use of the one in the galley.

I figured that out after I read some of the other responses. Sorry hadnt had my coffee yet this morning and missed that in your OP.

I also use the blue freezer packs and they do work pretty well but i also use a cooler full of ice for my drinks. i use the ice box for fruit, condiments, lucnchmeat or whatever. the freezer packs are good for a day trip, but i doubt will last for a weekend.

Ive also heard that you can convert the ice box to a AC/DC fridge. Just not sure what all is involved. Ive also heard of others using the cheap dorm room fridges in place of the ice box.

Lots of threads on here about the dorm fridges or converting the ice box to a fridge.
