I want to love my boat ....but

almost supports buying a slightly used boat as a better decision than buying new.....if you buy a boat that is just a few years old the issues probably have been resolved by then.....

That's what we thought in purchasing a 2010 boat with only 350 hours on Diesel engines. We're on our 3rd hydraulic leak on our pod drives but to be fair, the repairs have all been pretty reasonable cost-wise. Our biggest issue came a couple of weeks ago when we had a faulty o-ring prevent us from going on a long-planned and long-anticipated 10 day cruise. Our last boat was a Chaparral that we bought new and it was honestly flawless for nearly the entire time we owned it other than maintenance issues and one bad issue prior to selling it related to galvanic corrosion. Other than that it was a great and reliable boat. Our current Sea Ray, so far, not so reliable.

I'm crossing my fingers that it will be stable for a few months. That's not too much to ask, right??

This is not just something exclusive to SR. The four NEW boat owners (2 Regals and 2 Sea Rays) all had issues the past two years and two of the boats (1 each brand) were swapped back to the dealers for newer/replacement boats. I'm talking leaking roofs/windshields that had mold growing in the cabins, generators that wouldn't work, grills broken, wiring issues, A/C, etc. The embarrassment factor of them breaking all the time was just sad. Great to look at, but they couldn't trust their boats for long trips.
