Yesterday I sold my 1985 Cobalt CM23 to a great family that assured me they would finish up what I started. I've had a long history with this boat co-owning it from 1989-1998 and then buying it back 5 1/2 years ago. I spent a lot of money on her and changed and upgraded things that I would want for myself thinking I would keep this boat for many more years. But when I started using her in our area I realized that going up and down the river was just not the boating I want to do. I'm a destination boater....I like going places and staying on the boat for weeks/months at a time. I'm 70 and retired and my wife is 60 and not ready/able to retire and I don't want a cruiser until she can join me so, I am done with boating and not sure if we will get another one.
Being a member of this Forum has been a part of my life for the past 10-12 years or so. I've really enjoyed the interaction and this is the one place where it seems my views on current events are readily shared by others. I may drop in from time-to-time just to see what's happening.
I never bought in to that "Happiest 2 days...." bullshit and true to form, I cried watching this boat leave just as I have every boat I've owned and sold. "Boaters", love their boats and boating. "Boat Owners", use their boats and may even enjoy them but they will never really get it.
I am, and always will be, a "Boater" whether I own one or not. See ya 'round Guys....
