For those of you who have followed my 2 year painful, arduous, frustrating journey to find the next boat, I think I found her. It's not a Sea Ray...rather a 2004 Cruisers Yachts 370: https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/2004-cruisers-yachts-370-express-8001200/

My first offer was accepted today. The boat showed very well on my inspection, a bit bigger than I wanted but no 2 footitis in the future.

Sellers broker said one of the engines reached WOT 4200 RPMS, 2nd 4400 the last time the boat was out, otherwise she ran well. The seller never had it looked at so I am having engine compression checks done (which I always do anyway) before we move to sea trial/survey. I am hoping it's just a bad tach.

Thanks to all who replied to my "what if", "would you" threads over the past 1-2 years. Your feedback, opinions, comments helped. Fingers, toes, eyes crossed this one checks out well.

Very nice.
Good luck!

WOT @ 4200/4400 puts you within range. Not completely uncommon for one to do slightly better than the other. Compression tests will certainly put you at ease. 8.1 are know for running very smooth even if there is a slight miss on one plug so a tune up would be a good thing to start with.

Best of luck with the rest of your survey!

Congrats on finally finding your next boat!

If one or both of the props have been reworked over the years, a slight difference in efficiency of one over the other can cause that much difference in WOT RPMS even if the engine tuning is equal.

I thought so as well. The sellers "did not want to deal with it" so they accepted my first offer. I grinned when my buyers broker told me that. Either they are not engine savy, have a bad mechanic, both, other...

Yup, I've seen this before on prior boats.

Congrats. Fingers crossed that the engine test and sea trial work out. Nice layout on that boat. Ask price looks pretty good too and sounds like you did better than that.

Might not hurt to have someone put a computer on it when your doing the sea trial...see what the RPMs really are at.

Crossing my fingers for you, after the issues with the last one. Life's too short to be boatless for too long!

I like the interior layout with the couch in the aft cabin. However, how to you like the helm. I'm not sold on that part with the little "hallway" to the cabin door.

A friend of mine has a smaller Cruisers, with that same aft cabin couch. He took it out over the winter and built a set of bunk beds for his kids.

I saw one online where they installed a queen size mattress back there, looked amazing..

It's probably my least favorite part of the boat. However what's nice about that helm is you sit up very high. Even at the dock gives you more visibility.

Unless they are digital tachs, 200 rpm on an analog tach is likely closer than it might seem. Does the boat have a sync gauge?

Wow. I know you said you got a good deal. These times are crazy right now. I have 2 friends on my dock that just bought the EXACT same boat. I know that boat very well. One last fall and the other 2 falls ago. I'm not going to even tell you what they paid. As for the motors. 4200 is at the MIN rpm you should be getting out of them. Check out the props and make sure there in spec and pitched correctly. That boat should cruise at around 24-25mph at 3500 rpm. WOT range is 4200-4600.

Congratulations!! Hopefully you’ll get to play with your new toy during the Winter.

Less than $90K, I feel very good :)

No, it does not

Congratulations. Look at the coring in the hull before you close.
Agreed, I have researched this with these boats. Cored above the waterline for weight reduction. Surveyor I am using does thermal imaging plus I will make sure he taps everywhere with his hammer.

Be sure to take care of all thru hulls after you close on the boat. Dig out coring, fill with epoxy then rebed. My Cruisers friend was amazed his coring was still dry with how little sealant they used at the factory.
