I was recently given a 74 SeaRay SRV 190 for free. This is my first boat. I don't know too much about this boat and I don't have any manuals. Can somebody help point me in the right direction for manuals or have any info on this boat?

You want those for free too :smt043Welcome to the board, you will want to put your boat information in your signature (year, model, motor, etc). Also you can put your location as well as this will help as you ask questions. Welcome to CSR, post a couple of pictures, I have never seen a free boat before (although my sister-in-law claims they bought a boat for free, the sad part is she is talking about my boat). Welcome to the club!!!

Wesley

edit: I went to Sea Ray's website which usually has all of the manuals and parts list but they do not go back to 1974. Sorry could not be more help. Maybe others will be able to scan and email you a copy of there manuals. Again welcome to the club.

Good Luck Dude, I have a 1976 SRV 190 and can't find manuals for it and it is the most popular motor outdirve in history form what I hear from the mid 70s! It's an 888/888 combo meaning a 302 Ford with 351heads, and a 888 or Mercruiser #1 outdirve.

WHat kind of stuff do you need to know?

I need to Know if I am using my flush muffs properly. What should happen when I hook them up to motor? where will water come out? Thanks for your time

A free boat that RUNS too!?

You might try buying a Mercruiser manual that covers that year. It will have a lot of basic and general stuff. Enough to take of a 190 for sure since the motor and trimming is about all there is to that model.

The muffs should cover the lowest vent on the out drive. Water will come out the prop and/or around the gimbell depending on the set up and age of the bellows.

Be aware though, if the boat has set for awhile or has age on the impeller, the water pump may not actually get water to the motor even though you have the hose attached and on. Watch the temp guage and make sure it is functioning.

How does one get a free boat now days and what shape is she in? And welcome aboard!

Thanks for the help guys. The boat is in decent shape. It runs but needs new paint and interior needs re done, I will try to get a pic up soon. Overall it is in pretty good shape, i feel that I may just be a little picky. The way I got this boat for free was due to a loss in my boss's family, thats why I dont know much about the boat. Thanks again for the input

Was digging through some Sea Ray stuff and found a 1982 Mercruiser manual and Sr owners manual (same as online). If I can figure out how to scan the Merc manual I will.

I just bought a 1974 srv 190. Unfortunately for me, it was not free. The previous owner was very knowledgeable and provided me with a digital manual on CD. Maybe I can burn it and send it to you?
