I want aware that if you stay in the water in my marina you must hang an ice eater by friday or you recieve a 500$ fine. Anybody have one they want to sell? Don't care on size or cord length.

Got one here.......it's called the Sun!

There's also bourbon. But that can get quite expensive. Unfortunately I can't help you with an actual ice eater. Hopefully someone can respond for you though. Thats a significant fine for not having one.

I bet West Marine could get you one by tomorrow or Sat at the latest.

I have a couple problems with west marine or any other boating supply. 1 could not get to one today during hours do to work
2 nothing is open tomorrow or Friday due to new years and 3 don't want to spend 700 on one lol.

Pull your boat and put it on the hard like the rest of us. Cheaper in the long run

You must pay for the haul, block and storage, I'm at the same marina as Johnathan and at 33' it adds up fast. He also likes to go out during nice days.

I have one but, can't get it to ya....my marina installs their own to protect the docks and piles so, my boat is protected by them..

Check C.L. or ebay.

I too, like the boat in the water instead of blocked on land.
Just short haul in the early summer every other year for service, boat is much happier.
Hauling every year is a scam, unless your in really cold water that freezes solid.

Good luck.

I checked cl. There's a guy saying he has 6 right in my neighborhood but he won't answer my emails. Frustrating. .. guees I'm going to have to burn the wallet and order a new one.. but yea I don't like pulling the boat. I don't like to let the mechanicals sit all winter. I like to give her a good leg stretch every now and then. Keeps things lubed and fresh. It also supplies me with a place to run If I need to get away from everybody and I do all my maintenence over the winter months so comes spring I turn the keys and enjoy.

Jamestown Marina is talking about doing the same thing but most of us that stay in the water have one. All of us made ours using 1" PVC piping and a sump pump. It keeps not only the boat clear of ice it keeps the floating docks clear of ice.

pipe and pump cost me around $300 total. We place a timer on them and they come on 15 to 30 minutes apart from each other. The cycles start around 3am and run thru 9am. Longer colder spells we make the nessasary changes.

now I am very sure someone here has a reason not to use a sump pump but it works for us.

Jonathan,

There's a guy on Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh that sells and repairs them. The father is Joe. They are between Merrick Rd. and Sunrise on the east side of the street. Pretty sure he is still there. The son runs the business now. He probably even has used ones.
