The GPS system on my boat is obsolete and I would like to replace it. I need one that is reasonably priced but will provide info for where I boat, which is the North Shore on Long Island Sound

Can anyone suggest a make/model for my boat?

I have changed every GPS in every boat i have owned to a Garmin. Depending on how large of a screen you want all the 32, 42and 52 series come pre loaded with charts and that includes water depths, marinas, tide and a lot of other info. If you check Garmins site, find the one you want, then come back here and ask the administrator, (Jim) for pricing and he will set you up. I have had all kinds of GPS's and like Garmin the best. There are more complicated ones but Garmins are the most user freindlly and quick (very quick) with redrawing the screen and decent price. Anyone with just a little knowledge can install it also. All the wires are color coded with good diagrams. Good luck!

Thank You..... one more question... Who is Jim?

I recently purchased the Garmin 540S. It works great and has additional software that covers Hudson Valley, NJ and all of Long Island to Block Island. Would recommend it. TG/Port Alone

I put in the new C120 Wide. Resolution is awesome and has a quick redraw, compared to my old c80. Price was great considering it has a built in antenna and charts. Plug and go.
