I just saved a bunch of money on my boat insurance

Called for a quote, got ahold of Clyde McCleary, saved exactly 1/2 of what I was paying with Zurich Marine Insurance, which at the time was cheaper than Boat US 2 years ago...Give them a call !
 
I'm a happy camper (boater) also. Just received a quote from Clyde for a 31% reduction. Current insurance is with Zurich.
 
Are you guys all renewing your policies now...or are you just getting price quotes? My policy is scheduled to renew in March...and based on what you guys are posting, I need to check their rates.....

Is everyone getting the same coverages (or better), same deductibles, etc....for that much lower rates?

I checked for same coverages, etc. I'm not signing with them until my policy expires in another couple months. It's already paid for, so why bother (unless the price difference is huge). I will sign on with NBOA in March/April.

I had already renewed my current policy and when I kept getting another bill I looked at the bottom line and decided it was time for a change. Got the new policy in force and cancelled the one I had renewed. Less than a week after I canceled I got a check for 800 plus dollars for the unused portion of the policy.

The deductable was higher with the new policy, but what I saved in one year’s premium more than offset that. Other parts of the coverage are better than my original insurance coverage.

You should at the very least make the comparison. I’ll bet you will be happy with it.

As far as I know, you can cancel any insurance at any time and they will prorate it and send you the difference.

Correct, that is what we did.:thumbsup: The prorated check we got back for 6 months of the old policy paid for the entire year of the new policy
 
I had NBOA for five years before deciding to check for better rates just to be sure that mine were in the ball park. I found a company that was a few hundred $$ cheaper. I called NBOA and asked them if they could match the quote and they did. My total savings compared to BoatUS is about 42% :)
