I have some rub marks I'm having trouble removing

Some yo-yo put a hand print on my swim platform last night that I discovered today. It was the same color bottom paint as the sail boat sitting on the hard next my boat. Acetone took it right off. I followed that with Finesse it applied with a wool bonnet on a rotary buffer. That was followed by Flagship wax applied with a clean wool bonnet. Works great.

Concur...a light amount of Acetone on a rag will take care of alot of stubborn surface imperfections.

I had a few elevated drops on my gelcoat. A little sanding with 1000 grit, followed by 2000 grit, polish & wax and it was gone. That sounds complicated, but you can do it in less than a couple of minutes. Use a small block for the sandpaper when sanding, and wet the surface.

I'm soo glad someone finally said acetone!! Nothing on this planet in a liquid form works as well in my opinion. I recently buffed a boat where the previous person who buffed the boat decided it would be a great idea to burn the white rubber rub rail and leave a ridiculous amount of compound caked in the cracks. The owner of the boat said he was going to have it replaced, so not to worry about any clean up!?!? I was absolutely shocked, took it as a challenge, and turned it back to brand new condition using acetone, 3m finnesse it, and elbow grease. The owner tipped $200 dollars!!!

Thanks for allowing me to promote acetone.

I'm obviously a big fan!!

Should have splashed a little acetone onto the sail boats bottom paint....even the score. Damn blow hards!

I know...but that's too harsh. The guy did try to wipe it off but he smeared it around. Apparently he didn't have any acetone to do the job right.

I would think that Stoddard Solvent -aka paint thinner- would do a good job too, as it's a pretty mild solvent.
