New to vdrives and hydraulic steering, so...how much easier should it be to steer under power vs engines off at dock? I can't tell any difference. I suppose under power it would be much harder to steer, given force of water, so maybe no issue. Just want to be sure I don't have a problem.

Thanks

With V Drives you most likely have "hydraulic" steering that does not rely on the engines running. Power steering is usually found on IO's and is run off of the engine or if twins it runs off one of the 2 engines. If the engine that runs the pump goes down the steering is very difficult. Be happy you have hydraulic as it is simple and usually very reliable.

Coming from io to vdrive I find the vdrive to be very stiff in a tight turn at cruise. Considering I am turning the rudder into the full thrust of the prop I would expect it to be quite stiff.
