My port shift cable makes a scrapping noise especially in reverse. It's a new feature! I took the cover plate off an loosened the tightening adjustment screws. I'm next going to remove the cable off of the trans, and then off of the shifter. I need to see if it's in the shifter, cable, or trans. If it is the cable, where do I get one?? It does it mostly in reverse, so I'm thinking it's the cable on the push stroke. I've looked under Mercruiserparts and anywhere for ZF or Hurth parts and can't find it. I have Morse controls, but I wouldn't think they would make the cable. I could have sworn it was a Merc part, but I'll be damned if I can find it! Thanks for the help:smt100
By the way, if you don't see it in the sig, I have twin Hurth HSW 630A's

Thanks for the response. Question now is, Can I find a number printed on the cable, or is there a way I can match the application? I'll check Morse/Teleflex and see if they list a certain cable, but I'm guessing from what you say, that I may need to remove it first to check the length.
Like I said, I'm not sure the cable is the problem, but I would like to know where I can get one if I need to. I was suprised when I searched that there we not more posts about replacment cables. Mine are 20 years old (as far as I know they haven't been replaced). Mine do have red jackets on them, if that means anything.
