Does anyone have any experience with a Hurley Marine dinghy mount at all please? Looks easy from their web site video.......
We don't have an extended swim platform on our 340 so any feedback greatly appreciated!

If you do a search you will pull up threads on both the Hurley and the Nautley. I went with the Nautley primarily because it is 2 pieces as opposed to on large one. Once I get where I am going, I can drop the dinghy in and put the davits in the storage locker, leaving a clean swim platform. Our boats have the swim step pretty high off the water, so it is much easier to pull it back up with 2 people, although many on here do it by themselves.

I had the Hurley Davit on a 370DB which has a swimplatform that is only 18 inches wide. Assuming yours is also around that size you'll need to order what Hurley calls its HURLEY DINGHY DAVIT for smaller platforms. I used the same setup for a 10'2" roll-up dinghy with a 9.9 HP motor. That setup was about 220 pounds (maybe a bit more with the gas can) and I was able to get it up on the davits by myself but it did take a bit of muscle. I changed over to the Nautleys because my newer dinghy is a RIB and quite a bit heavier and was a real chore to get up on the Hurleys. If you're interested I still have the Hurley setup and I'd sell it for 50% of the cost new.

By the way, both the Hurley and Nautley setups are easily removable if having a clear swim platorm is a priority. Otherwise, you have to step over the bars (but the arms automatically pivot to the water when the dinghy is not one them) with both systems if you don't remove them. While both create somewhat of a tripping hazard if you don't remove them, that's never been an issue with us.

I've been using the Hurley Davit on my 370DB for 4 years. I'm on my second set and hate it. Bought the first set direct from Hurley and the powder-coat blistered within the first 12 months. Plastic inserts and riveted rail covers fell off within 18 months. I extended my platform and it is only 7" off the water, so this should be a piece of cake. It's not.

I can say that it is probably ok for occasional use for an inflatable with an air floor, but for regular use on a RIB it is absolutely garbage. A dock mate of mine hated it so much, he gave me his free of charge and I junked the first one I had. The newer one is on the way out too. If it wasn't for the outrageous $800+ I have in to it, it would have been gone the first week.

This was a good idea poorly executed. I know they have an account on this site and am aware that they spent some money on R&D, but in real world application; sorry, it's junk. I'm in the process of testing my own custom davit made of Star Board (inspired by some designes found here). The dinghy slides on and off easily and the new davit floats if I drop it in the water.

I can't say the same about my Nautley system. It's really great and I can hoist my 8' RIB by myself. Moreover they have great customer support:

Thanks guys for all the info! You really are the best !!! The "Captain" (bit of help from me and a lot from you) has decided to go with Nautley. I just wondered which one Michael has on his 340? Do you have the slide on or roll on type? We suspect the roll on may work better on our 340 because we just have the regular swim platform. Thanks again, and sorry to hear of the bad experiences folk have had with Hurley, that sucks.

I have the slide on. I do not have the extended platform either. I debated the rollers, but did not go with them. It may be worth it. I do generally like another person helping we pull up our 9.5 inflatable with a 4hp 4 stroke outboard. Take a lot of effort with one person, but I hardly ever have need to drop the dink if I am on the boat solo anyway. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any other questions about my experience with it.

Trick Davits were developed on a SeaRay. The long cradles come off individually for easy storage. The load is at an angle, not straight up and down. There are rollers to assist loading.

We ordered the Nautely Dinghy Ramp which arrived just before Christmas and now have to get it fixed onto the swim platform. Another labor of love:)

Is the Hurley davit still available for sale?

I bought a Hurley last year when we bought the boat and had it mounted by others for my 9-6 inflatable floor dinghy and was a a little troubable some for one person to handle. Had switch to a rib, downsized to 8-6, this year do to Deb's broken leg, found it very easy to handle myself with the rib. good luck with your decision.
