Anybody out there install the new Hurley H2O Davits on a 340 SDA yet? When mounting the brackets on the swim platform do you use toggle bolts or do you install access plates so you can install a backing plate for the bolts? Any help will be appreciated.

Don't know if this will help you or not but we just installed Nautley davits on our 340 and had to use toggle bolts as the swim platform is hollow, as I understand it, which is why we had to use the toggle bolts. I did hear a few choice words coming from the "Captain" as he installed them, they were not the easiest of things to work with and one set fell inside the swim platform because it was faulty. Luckily, where we bought them from exchanged what was left for a new set...they are NOT cheap. Good luck with your install:)

on our 2005 340 we used bolts and backing plate, you can reach into the hollow swim platform from the engine compartment

+1 that.....I used 1 1/2 inch washers as "backing plates" to secure the Hurley Davits on swim platform. Measure and mark carefully, drill your hole. Only need to drill a single hole in the platform. Then just reach into the hollow platform from inside the bilge compartment to tighten it down. I threw in same waterproof caulking material around the washer and bolt before tightening it. Simple and works great. I've been taking my dinghy with me ever since. DO NOT CUT OPEN THE SWIM PLATFORM FOR AN ACCESS PORT/COVER!

Thanks guys. That's great news about the access to the backing plates. Brewster since you have the same boat, what Hurleys did you use. I was thinking of the newer H20's to get more walk room. What's your take on this.

I've got the H2O davits on order. When they're installed I'll report back on how they are to operate. I'm going to be using them on a soft bottom inflatable.

I went with the H2O's because of the minimal footprint they leave on the platform when not installed and because they look easier to store than the original davits (they're not connected to each other).

I finally got around to putting the H2O davits on the platform two weeks ago. Very easy to install and they work as advertised. So far I have no issues with them. The inflatable is very stable at speed on the platform and very easy to get on and off the davits.
