Is the transducer a transom mount or hockey puck inside? If it's inside, make sure it's bonded firmly to the hull with epoxy and not something like silicone. If it's a transom mount, make sure it's clean and pointing the right direction. Mine used to flip up and I'd get crazy readings. Sometimes it would get bubbles on it and it would give me false readings too.
Is it a new unit just installed or something that just recently started acting up? Is the placement where there is no turbulence at planning speed and where it's in the water while cruising? Is this a trailered boat or moored boat? Sorry for the questions, just trying to help diagnose.
