Looking to eliminate or maybe just supplement the DishNetwork setup at the dock and I'm considering a subscription to Hulu Plus for my iPad. Any thoughts?

I use Netflix and love it. My marina has Wifi so the movies download in an instant. I haven't tried Hulu but I understand even with the paid subscription you still get commercials.

Netflix here as well. I plug the ipad or iphone into the TV and stream away.

At home I have Directv and I was looking at getting rid of that all together and going completely to streaming. I learned that I would miss out on local news, certain cable news programming and a lot of sports. So I cancelled all my movie channels and subscribed to Netflix and Hulu Plus and kept a more basic Directv package.

I have learned that I really don't use it as much as I thought I would, my kids love it though. I'm on the fence about Hulu Plus. Yes, there are still commercials, but they are no longer than 60 seconds at a time and I think there is only a few depending on how long the show is. The other problem I have found out with Hulu Plus is that it doesn't have every show and you have to wait different periods of time to get certain shows. I am a Gold Rush junkie and it only has only season 1, but I can't watch season 2 anywhere yet. It seems like every time I search for a show that I really like, it isn't on there. I also love Tosh.o, but it isn't on there either. It is nice being able to stream video on my tablet and Android phone anywhere that I have a connection. I would give them both a try. Netflix has a month free trial and Hulu Plus has a week free. Streaming is really the future of TV though.

Netflix and an antenna for locals is all I need.

Ironically, I started using Hulu this week. It served my purpose to watch the Once upon a time series, but I think that it's significantly limited compared to Netflix. Just depends on what you want. 3 month old + older movies and TV shows with no commercials or a few TV shows with full episodes and obscure movies

How's the quality, Mike? Don't you have KVH dish?

Quality depends on signal strength. If you have really good download speeds, the picture looks good, not HD good, but good. Netflix has adaptive streaming so it tests the speed of your network and adapts the quality so that I'll stream uninterrupted.

I have an Apple TV at home I don't use so I may try that on the boat. Poor cell signal at my marina though.

Keep in mind that for your aTV to work, you have to have a wireless network pre-installed. It's obnoxious that it doesn't just work as a "receiver." I'd love to have one in my car as well.
