How's your marina's security?

They would sure help with the goose situation up north.
Being that they are cold blooded, they get comparatively lethargic when it cools off.
Even down here, in the winter they will always be on the North side of the river, laying on a log and trying to get some sun to thaw out.

Going out of the canal one day, I saw a guy in one of the other marinas chasing geese away with a rake.

A few hours later, coming back in I saw the same guy getting chased all over the place by about 40 geese.

It was hysterical.
Saw one of my dock neighbors have a goose turn on him. The goose got the surprise. They have long necks it really works against them. :D

My wife passes out when she sees a water snake.... a security guard in an alligator suit ....is a whole other level

From my experience visiting the islands where you do most of your boating, you must keep a lot of smelling salts on the boat!
When we anchor at Kelly’s or Middle Bass, we chase them around with the dinghy.

Well, there’ve been several news articles about alligators attacking children — and adults— in this country, so I’m not sure I’d stake my life on that……..
I’m not looking to go swimming with them either but as long as you are not feeding them / they don’t associate you with food. Alligators don’t go after adults. Now if it is a small child / dog … Personally they are predators I would rather have a pair of boots from them but our society frowns upon this.

God’s handle

My nephew is doing everything he can to reduce the Canadian geese population

What's the plan for all of those geese?

They're great to eat, but that's a shitload.
Depends…. If he’s not on his land he gives a fair amount to the farmers whose land he is on. Depending how many are hunting with them they divide the rest. The meat is made into sausage or pepperetes …. He hunts a lot of deer and turns all the meat into pepperetes….. different flavors….. I always get a few bags full….. both taste incredible

These recipes look much better. Just wondering why the sausage and pepperetes?

You need to taste the pepperetes….

Geese are greasy…. Venison is disgusting….. if you can turn both into a pepperete that everyone loves it’s easy to share with family and friends. This is my wife’s side of the family they are all farmers…. Chickens, pigs, cows….. they raise pheasants, deer for hunting….. it’s a different world….. I’m quite fine with pepperetes that don’t taste gamy just good

They look great. Good thing they are prepped well for shipping as you will need to bring a load with you when you come down for crab's.

Geese are greasy, but if cooked correctly, breast slices are like steaks and some of the best meat I've ever eaten.

When I roast them I do it on a rack and turn them every 15 minutes. It's incredible how much fat will render.

Try it, you'll like it.

FWIW, I'm not a big venison guy either. The only time I had it that didn't suck was in a restaurant.
