I have a 2001 Sea Ray 270 Sundancer. The original Clarion XMD2 radio and 6 CD changer quit working. I replaced the XMD2 radio with a new Clarion CMD6 (I think that is the model). I also bought the new dash mounted remote that works with the new Clarion CMD6. This is the remote that has a LCD read-out of the frequency the radio is tuned to. The original remote did not have frequency read out.

The original cable installed by Sea Ray when the boat was built that connected the original XMD2 radio in the cabin to the original remote on the dash is a 6 conductor. The new CMD6 radio and the new remote require an 8 conductor cable to be connected between them. I have the new 25 foot long 8 conductor cable.

For the life of me I cannot figure out how Sea Ray routed the original cable from the original XMD2 radio in the cabin to the remote on the dash. It appears the original 6 conductor cable was installed and the cabin and fixtures and wall coverings etc were installed over and around the cable.

Does anyone know how to route the new 8 conductor cable out of sight from the new CMD6 radio mounted in the port side compartment of the cabin over the table to the new dash mounted remote without removing cabin fixtures and / or trim?

It is forever entwined in the main wiring harness. Having watched several different cables on different boats being installed, It is truly a work of art to route those cables through the boat. All kinds of hidden screws zippers and covers that you work through.

The above link will give you the information you need, it is fairly straight forward. Thanks to Loneranger for detailing this on his 2000 270DA.

If you have any questions I will try to help as well, just did this on my 1999 270DA.

Thanks that is just what I wanted.......then maybe not due to the complexity of replacing the cable. Before posting I did a search but the link you supplied did not come up.

Thanks again!
