You can hire companies to do this for you. They blast the hull with baking soda.

By the way, no need to post the same question in multiple parts of this board. Most of us click a button to show us all new posts, not go section by section looking for new posts.

yea I think about soda but here in Canada they quote me at 3500$ to do it so I try to find a cheaper way

for double post it is because after I post it I found antifouling in the other section so I post it there thinking it was the wrong section

thanks you

Yikes

Ship the boat down here to Boston. I'm having our 280 done next week for USD $ 700.00! Any idea why so high?

We pay gas over 4,75 gallon here! It is Canada here guy try to shop online .ca and you will see everything is more expensive here. There is little volume, low competition, greedy government so we alway pay more on everything gas,tool,house-ware,furniture,name it.........

I agree that sounds WAY too high! Try shopping around, there's got to be a better deal out there!

How much would you pay to get a broken leg or arm seen to and put in a cast in Canada? What was that? How much? oh yeah, nothing!!!:smt038

Keep your eye on the ball, guys..............

Why do you think you need to barrier coat the bottom? About the only real reason is to help combat a bad case of osmotic blistering. Absent serious blistering, Why spend the money or even remove the Micron CSC.

I did mine for three reasons:
1. I wanted to know the condition of the hull;
2. The bottom paint was of unknown origin (had no way of knowing how to match it) and was on very thick.
3. I wanted to make sure the hull was sealed and done to my standards.

A lot of work yep it was. Cost? Didn't really matter as I know the condition of the hull now.

Modern Sea Ray hulls use a vinylester resin that have almost eliminated osmotic blistering. Unless the OP has a blister problem, he doesn't need to barrier coat and he can properly prepare Micron CSC for repainting with a good sanding. Add to that the fact that he is in Canada so his boat is most probably out of the water 1/2 the year where it can't blister just makes me ask Why?

I would follow Frank's advice, but if you are determined to remove the paint, I would not use pressure washer.

Many years ago, when I was new to boating, I used a pressure washer to remove a small section of bottom paint and didn't realize that it was coming off of my boat and settling and drying on the boat next to me. I spent another 4 or 5 hours cleaning my neighbors boat with polishing compound.

Finaly did dit it we sand all the hull last years when I pull it out and I did 5 barier coat layer plus fresh 2x scs im pretty happy with it now.

As to telling me it is useless to do barrier coat is not really know what is the real world in north....ask marine surveyor and have a look at fiberglasss guy over here doing blister and delaminated job maybe you will maybe change you mind......and they do searay. You could believe what searay told you but my experience and real world are a lot different. All the boat I have own this searay include was having begining of blistering after 7-10 years. Of course if you buy a new boat and sell it after a couple of years with 50% loss it is uselss but buying older boat and keeping them is a different story.

I think the biggest problem over here is winter when we get our boat out the water and humidity kept inside the gelcoat fiberglass and hood expend living more space for more water to the next years to get in and so on.....

When I buy my previous maxum there was 70% humidity at some place and little spot blistering I sand gelcoat remove the litle blistering did the inteprotec and five years later the boat was 20% of less no blistering.....I also sell it same price I paid.....and I have a waiting list to buy my boat now

Sounds to me like your doing it the right way. On a side note I just had my 88 weekender 300 sand blasted for 200 bucks and they even took it off and put it back on the trailer. Theysand blast them all the time here.
