How To Plumb Fresh Water Tank To Fill From Boat Connection?

There is always a gotcha, isn't there ?

With the idea of "T"-ing into the file line between the deck plate and the tank inlet is a lot more complex than typing it. Sea Ray uses a 1.5" deck plate for the water fill. That is connected to a corrugated 1.5" vinyl hose much like a swimming pool vacuum uses. Connecting t he 1.5" corrugated hose to a 3/4" hose is problematical because the fittings aren't readily available and the corrugated hose connections are barbed type fittings and are not designed to hold pressure.

On my 1988 390EC I hated climbing up on deck to deal with freshwater refills/overflows, etc. So I put a T in the corrugated hose and ran the 3rd leg of the T to the bulkhead in the engine room right behind the steps in the cabin. That hose terminated with a regular 1.5" deck plate in the bulkhead. That is a good spot since you can reach the think inlet ant hose there to make the T connection. That let me refill the water tank whenever I was flushing the engines and save a lot of climbing in and out.

Plus there is no convenient place to T into that fill hose in most of our boats.... And the effort to do so would negate the hassle of filling it the current way. The major concern is how to poka-yoke the system so you don't pressurize the holding tank .... That seems like the hurdle here
