How to handle (or not to handle) waves

Everyone forgets or leaves bumpers and ladders down at times for various reasons. No one is immune . When running water like this though we need to be diligent with regards to procedure and safety

if you leave the swim ladder down while passing through rough waters like this I would think it might not still be connected to the platform when you finally get to calmer waters.....:(...

These inlet videos amaze me. We don’t have anything like this in the Great Lakes, obviously no tide. Blows my mind that tide will cause this.

Every part of the country has its challenges - Inlets are the topic in Florida.

I have seen this inlet much rougher.

Government Cut going into Miami has a spot that can get rough. Several of the inlets are just "no go" places. When they start rolling - it is easy to hit bottom in the trough.

I have guests all the time that want ride on the bow. Most are ok when I tell them no it's not safe. Some want to get into a detailed discussion about why it's not safe, blah blah blah. My new stock response is "because I said no" and leave it at that.

I am always 100 percent in charge of safety for my crew and passengers . That's the way the law will see it if I kill someone.. In only had to turn the boat back to the marina and send my family home by cab once to make them understand that I can be captain hard ass if they require it
