How do you guys clean you flame arrestors?

My favorite way...

Throw it in the dishwasher when the wife isn't looking. Use the pot scrubber cycle. It works very well!!

I use carb cleaner or brake cleaner which ever is available - brake cleaner seems to be a little stronger but the CRC brand has less fumes than carb spray. After using the spray I rinse with water and let dry before putting it back on.

Spray start is a very fast way to clean the flame arrestor.

It doesn't leave a residue and makes it look like new.

Use the blower and keep the hatch open to exhaust the fumes.

I swish them around in a small bowl of gasoline and then some soapy water followed by hosing them off with fresh water. Let them sit in the sun to dry.

First, I remove them. Then I clean mine in a bucket of soapy water then I rinse it off with a hose, shake it dry then let it air dry then reinstall.

Yuck!

I use to clean the one on my carburetor equipped boats by soaking in a pail of mineral spirits and blowing out with compressed air. The EFI flame arrestor didn't get that dirty, so compressed air alone worked. But with a golden retriever aboard, the hair really accumulates! Switched to CG rated K&N filters and that solved the problem. They're still clean and the dog's hair is easily wiped off.

Best regards,
Frank
