How do you all clean your flame arestor? Mine has some engine oil in it from a back fire issue i'm working out. I would assume since it's a metal device it can be cleaned/ sprayed with Carb cleaner or brake cleaner and the excess should run threw the layers if held verticle? Any info would be appreciated.

You got it, carb-cleaner will do the trick...make sure it is dry before you fire back up...

You could even use soapy water, but carb-cleaner will produce the best results in my opinion.

I use acetone and a toothbrush. Dries quickly and dissolves the gunk.

Add some compressed air to either of the above posts. Blow from the inside of the arrestor to force the debris out of the pleats.

... you have to clean them? Just kidding, carb cleaner and air is my method

I use degreaser and blow it all out with fresh water, let air dry...

but any of the methods already posted will certainly work very well....

Ah... happy memories from that one!

To answer the question - take OFF the engine and use solvent and air and/or a brush and then let dry. You'll be amazed at the amount of crap which comes out.
