I am installing a fire suppression system in my 2005 220 Sundeck. According to many photos I've seen of other 220s and the location of the connector in the wiring harness, the bracket mounts to the transom just behind the port exhaust manifold riser.

Does anyone know how thick the transom is at that location? Or what size screws Sea Ray uses to attach the bracket?

Thanks,
Mike

Well, I did some rough measuring through the bilge plug hole and the transom looks to be maybe as much as 2-1/2" thick in the area in question. Confidence was high that a 1" screw would not be a problem, so I drilled a pilot hole. Fortunately, I was correct. Though it was a bit of a challenge to work in that area of the engine compartment, I was successful in mounting the extinguisher using #10 x 1" ss screws.

Good going then :) I suuuure would like to see a blue print of my boat, or some more real info on how exactly it's built..

Sorry...but the subject line of this thread is just too funny! I've been working on losing my thick transom!

Sorry,..couldn't resist.

Yes, but even funny didn't get me any responses (let alone useful ones) until after I drilled the holes!

Yeah, I did my best not knowin' the answer :) In New Hampshire they have an expression "Hard saying, not knowin'"
