Attached is the deck specification from our wonderful friends at Sea Ray, however I'm no closer to knowing what thickness coring to purchase.

Anyone on here replaced the deck coring of their 1993 era ~30ft DA on here?

Given she lives in water, I'm not keen to cut her open and then order

Specifically, I'm looking at doing to forward walk around to get a feel for the procedure, then we'll move on to the deck proper. For interest, we'll be removing the existing anti skid and glassing it back in.

Also, any ideas why I can't attach a PDF file bigger than 19.5kb?

rcon, how about sending an email to SR customer service. Give them the year, model number and HIN of your boat and the specific area you are referring to. A picture might help to describe a specific area. Then ask them about the coring.

I've always found that SR customer service was very helpful.

Yeah, I asked them for some assistance, and they said the deck, including the duckboard, wasn't cored.

When I pointed out it was cored and that I could see it, they sent me that schematic, which is fantastic, but not overly helpful.

I'll shoot them another email, but I'm not holding my breath - she does turn 20 this coming year!

rcon,

What you are looking at is a deck bracing print showing where we place wood backings such as under your deck stanchions and around the hatch openings. You do not have or are not showing the deck core print which would illustrate where all the 3/4 inch marine balsa is laid. You entire deck surface is more than likely core with 3/4 inch balsa, other than the radius areas where such material will not bend.
If possible, can you tell us what project you're undertaking and why are you after the deck coring? Not trying to be nosy, just want to know what I am talking about before I open my big mouth.

Again, you are showing a bracing print and probably need to ask for a deck balsa print, if unable to acquire what you need, just PM me and I will find out what your looking for. You might hear me beg if you would please not post proprietary drawings for the whole world to see. I know we do not mind providing you with most info possible but them other boat builders would also not mind seeing what the biggest boat builder in the world does on their vessels.

I will even offer that if you provide me with a good landline number and time to call, I will try my best and we can have a conversation and what you want to do to the boat and maybe I can provide some factory positions.

Standing by sir,

Rusty

Post edited, Rusty. I gave not a thought to that, but you are of course correct!

PM coming your way.

I'm not sure about the area in front of the hatch, but the top deck certainly is cored as is the walkway. At least it was in my 1996 330 Sundancer. Here are a couple of photos that show the coring...

Thanks again to Sea Ray, they've just furnished me with the deck coring prints.

Seems I need to order me some 7/16" end grain balsa for my walk arounds
