Spent the better part of 2 years getting her back in shape after dock abuse, and am going to keep it that way - it's a loooooooooooooooot easier that way.

Port side, looks like new. Stbd, not so new. Need to turn it around and do the other damn side. Thought about trying the dinghy to get to it but how do you keep it steady enough. It sure was easier to do on a trailer....

I use tarps over a PVC frame I made for storage so every year I get a little dust on the hull. It takes a real good wash to clean this stuff off. Last year I bought a new polisher and a friend showed me a better method of buffing and the shine was significantly better than what I had done in years past. I don't expect after pulling the cover this year to need too much effort to get her back to last years shine. Then a a good polsih and wax to prep for splash!

I have a rope with clips on each end. I just clip the rope to the rail and a cleat and put the rope behind my back. I can do about 4 feet or so before I have to move the rope. It's a pain but I would much rather be waxing my boat in a dinghy than being in the city staring at morons. This also allows me to do it while anchored out too. Good excuse to pretend to be doing something important rather than having a talk about boring stuff like marriage.

Prestiege Detailing....unbelievable and worth every penny...from the waterline to the top of the radar array.......perfect..washed it twice all summer...whatever they use kept me from working my butt off!!!

Thanks, Mike -- I'll have to try that. I did try using our tube last year...fell forward and twisted my neck trying to avoid doing a faceplant in the fiberglass. Must have looked pretty funny, but it hurt afterward.

Now Rob.....isn't that easy to say when it's not YOUR hands doing the waxing??:smt043

NO SWIRL MARKS HERE... My hull has never and will never see a wheel. HAND WAX ONLY!!

I started the buff out last fall. I need to finish and get a good polishing and wax coat on.

We had our water turned on last weekend and finally got to do a good wash and the wax job done in September held up good. I will pull her out in April and wax again. All the systems and mechanicals were serviced in January and, the camper canvas came down a few weeks ago. I know it is getting near, I saw three big ol spiders setting up camp Saturday.

What did he show you that helped?
Ok - but for the CSR police - warning -I am a good mechanic - but shaky body guy.
I purchased a buffer with a "slow start" and installed the Velcro backing plate. I use a gray foam pad to slowly spread the polishing compound in about a 2 foot square. Now here is what he said I did it wrong - I needed to spread the polish around but leave slightly wet but evenly thin. Now I switch pads to a wool pad and buff to a shine.
The Velcro set up makes it quite easy to go back and forth between pads.

Hey - it made my boat look noticeably different and all my dock neighbors asked me who detailed my boat last year. There are experts on the board - search for their methods too:)

Mine still looks really good from last years wax but then I did not get out anywhere near as much as I wanted. April has already been booked to wash it, strip it down, reapply wax and polish. It will be a 8 hour job, which I am not looking forward to but it will be worth it.

Here's one of my 260. Although it hadn't been waxed in about two years, so some of the shime had worn off. Makes me wish I hadn't sold her.

I'll look for a good one of my 310.

Got a new waffle pad for the buffer, a fresh bottle of 3m finesse it and 17 bottles of Meguiars Flagship. The flagship was on clearence at Checker auto parts for $3 a bottle. 17 bottles should last a while!

I love washing and waxing my boat. Maybe not EVERY single time but in general. I wax it REALLY good 2 times a year. Wash it every weekend. And do a touch up wax once a month. I also spend about 2 weekends in the winter washing and waxing the cockpit under shrink wrap. I think i'm addicted to the smell of wax.

OK. You win.

I don't wash and wax while the boat is under the winter cover.

Ah. . . the truth comes out.

I understand completely the issue here.

The Hull is being done next week and top side will be done in May. We in the north east have had some real bad storms in April.
