As the winter season approaches thought I would post these, as a grim reminder of what winter looks like. Although those of you in the east already know. These were taken last winter in Febuary. The owner owed money to the bank and just walked away from it......notice skaters shoveled snow off the ice. The boat was towed in the spring, so I never got to see what happened to it. There were two different boats in my area that the owners did this.

Well, it couldn't sink in those conditions. :smt043

Not sure what would happen to the thru hulls under those conditions, but if they cracked due to freezing, there would be an unpleasant surprise in the spring thaw.

Typical of some of the boaters I've met the past few years. It's just today's society of "it's not my problem now" people, Mike.

Don't folks understand that they will still owe the difference in the price sold to loan amount? I would think that having the financed product/house in good repair would bring a better price and lower the amount still owed.

Isn't it coincidental that so many threads come down to the same conclusion: irresponsible people doing irresponsible things. :smt021

Now if they would just do that with mortgages maybe everyone and their brother wouldn't walk away so easy.

Even people with enough sense to have their boats hauled for the winter can be irresponsible...

I assume because the boats are uncovered over the winter? I cover mine, but there are a few guys who don't and you might never know looking at their boats. They show very well come spring time.

What you see is what you get. I call this boat abuse. This was after a pretty big snow storm here in NJ a couple of years ago. Look at the depth of the footprints.
