new boat with 5 hours, 350 mag, bravo III.

the first outing we lowered the reservoir to alarm stage, went back to the marina filled it. ran it the next day and saw it drop again.

last night we were out for about an hour, and it's about down to where the alarm is going to sound again.

they told me it would use some at first, but today will be the 2nd time i've had to fill it myself.

sound about right?

It should stop dropping. But if it continues, call your dealer. When I used to change my gear lube at season end, the merc. mechanic suggested filling the bottle to the top in the winter, by spring it was usually about right.

Hi There

The B3 had an issue with this in that the oil in the gear box was pushed out through the seal on the prop shaft. Mercury have changed the seal used on the shaft. Contact your dealer and haver them replace this seal and this will solve the oil loss.

Thanks again guys. Went out yesterday and the lube level had not fallen quite as far as i had thought the night before.

That link was useful, and think that is the track i'm on. Cant imagine i've added 16oz yet, maybe close though. 1 more outing ought to tell the tale.

The dealer told me to watch it, if it continues to bring it in. Think i'm close to where air will quit pushing out at this stage. If i have to add again after next weekend, to the dealer she goes.
