What is involved with replacing a Quicksilver 3000 control box and throttle/shift cables on a 1999-2000 Sundancer 270 ?

I can’t see how the back of the box is even accessed.

I am researching replacing the controller with a Quicksilver 4000 and gen 2 cables. Relatively mechanically inclined, but if too involved, may turn it over to a shop.

Lower cables have already been replaced.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you. I think the one thing I am really missing is boat specific - how to get to the back side of the unit.

The only spot I can see is a 5" speaker hole a couple feet down and left. Not really a good way to access it.

you get to the back when you remove the front
remove the handel and cover pieces, should see 3 bolts/screws. remove them and the housing comes free from behind the panel. in some case a complete panel must be removed with the shifter

We have a 1999 - 270 sundancer with the commander 3000 unit. how did you end up gaining access and/or removing the control unit. there is very little access to the backside of the panel. Maybe only a 6 inch speaker anywhere nearby. thanks.
