How does the water get upstream?

When my niece asked me "Why is north called north"? I felt like the dumbest uncle in the world. "just sit down and enjoy the ride".
 
Why is one turn signal red, and the other one green?

Nice boat, how much fuel does this thing use?

(at which point I reply, we don't talk about the cost of fuel on the boat)

While towing the boat last summer on a long trip with another family (he was towing his camper), we stopped about 2 and a half hours into the trip to get gas. I figured this was a good time to gas the boat as well as the truck as we would be spending a week on the island where gas is more expensive. I pulled in as to fill both at the same time. My friends 16 year old daughter asked if the boat used more or less gas on the highway than the truck. I looked puzzled and she explained herself a little more. She thought the boat was using gas on the highway as we drove just like the truck.
 
Not in a boat, but while we were visiting Yellowstone and listening to one of the ranger talks one of the "city" kids from Manhattan was talking to the ranger and asked where they keep the animals at night! Riiiiight!
 
While wearing a Northface Jacket, I was asked:

How does the jacket know that you are facing north?

The sad thing is that she was dead serious. I told her that I rely on the compass on the boat more than the jacket.

Not boat related.

I was taking a picture of an F 117 Stealth bomber flying over an out door concert I was at when my brother in-law said not to waste my time because it stealth and can’t be photographed.:smt101
 
While explaining how my chartplotter worked and showing the zoom function, one of the guests asked if by zooming more on the little boat icon we would be able to see ourselves in it....
