I use the Nautley davit system and my dinghy stays on fine, but doesn't seem as secure as possible. For those of you with this set up, how do you secure your dinghy while under way?

Pad Eyes on the platform and ratcheting straps to hold her down just like they show in their instructions?

I do have mine secured in that fashion, but it appears to rock back and forth a bit while underway. Was just curious if anyone had devised a better method of securing it.

Regardless of the type of davits I'm using (ramps or a lift on my current boat) I always do crisscross at the bow (using the D rings) and transom (using the handles). I try to use quick release clips on the ends. It takes me about 1 min to get my dink unhooked on my 420DB. The idea of the clips came to serve in case of emergency, to be able to deploy the dink in a matter of seconds.

This is on my 320:

I think I found a great way of fixing my RIB.
I’m sorry but I do not have a pic, I’ll try to explain…. The bow is fixed to the swim platform by a not adjustable strap with a snap shackle as used for spinnakers.

Then I bolted two of these on the transom of my dinghy. (note, not on the swim platform)

Procedure is: haul the dinghy on the Nautley bars. Hook up the bow schackle. Hook up the two aft tie and pull them tight with the ratchet.

To release the dinghy, just pull the shackle free and re-coil the two automatic tie-up belts.

If you can wait till springtime, I’ll post some pics.

Mike,
One strap from the D Bolt on the bow going forward to a possible eye bolt. Another tie down going from the forward eye bolt to the inner ring on the bow. On the stern, two tie downs going aft. Dinghy will not move!
