How do you forget $600K

Pelosi's already forgiven him. He's all set, not to worry.

"he needs a bigger freezer" - "send him some aluminum foil"

These guys have their own set of rules.

You can say that again. Just last year they caught him pocketing money from renting an apt that the taxpayers were paying for. He also said that he needed all those big fancy cars to do the peoples work. Can't go to work representing the people in no normal car.

We have a State Rep who voted to tax alcohol @ 6.25%, (Alcohol had never been subject to sales tax in Mass until last month) photographed purchasing liquor at a tax free NH liquor store, He didn't break the law but it just looks so sleazy to vote for a tax in his own state, then head north and spend his money out of state. I think he has some explaining to do to owners of package/liquor store in his district.

I guess I would be part of a vast right wing conspiracy if I said that we ought to put the bum in jail, eh?

A mistake is like when you transpose 2 numbers. I'd accept it if he has accidentally reported his outside income of $12,100 as $11,200 or something, but his "mistake" could be missing up to three zeros! What do ya wanna bet that the $1.04 mill turns into over $2 mill before all is said and done?

And how in the hell can an "amended" number be "somewhere between"? What's the AGI line say? Arghhhh!

"In 2004, for instance, Rangel reported earning between $4,000 and $10,000 in outside earnings on top of his $158,100 congressional salary.
But the amended filings show that after the sale of a property on West 132nd Street, his outside income that year was somewhere between $118,000 and $1.04 million."

Can we start shooting yet?

What do you want to bet that he gets nailed for the brownstone sale. He sold the building but the records show that he still owns it and his nephew lives in it. Can you say laundering a payoff?

How does a know-nothing sh**head have so much outside income? Oh, it's OK if he discloses it. So now he amends his reports and everything is just hunky dory? I still want to know how a know-nothing sh**head has so much outside income? You mean to say if he was just another brother in Harlem he would still have that kind of money?

I hate this man almost as much as I hate Al Sharpton.

He seemed so sincere in this 2008 statement

http://bunitaxlaw.wordpress.com/2009/08/13/a-closer-look-at-congressman-rangels-tax-problems/

First, while the Congressman says there is less than $5000 of unreported income per year over 20 years, the Post reported that a reservations manager at the property said that the Congressman’s villa rents for $1100/night in the busy season and is “always booked solid… between December 15 and April 15.” If true, that would be more than $130,000 of rental income per year, excluding income from the off-season, where the property reportedly rents for only $500/night and may not be booked solid. Depreciation and other deductions are not likely to offset this kind of income.

If his statement is true, then this is possibly the dumbest man east of the Mississippi.

that youtube statement was not written by him... his lawyers wrote it, and gave it to him to read... there are sections there, where he's not even familiar with what it says, and he has to stop and digest it before he spews it out. Probably not surprising, but definitely not genuine.

Do you think anything more serious then being censured will happen to him?

This article refers to the financial disclosure form and the income from some sources is reported in brackets. One of those brackets actually is $100,001-1,000,000. Check out the Financial Disclosure form SF 278. It looks to me that he is guilty of deceptive practices in the preparation of his annual income tax and the annual Financial Disclosure that is required of him as a public servant. My general understanding of the IRS is that they can tolerate mistakes or variation in the interpretation of the tax codes but deceptive practices are like going in a lions cage and trying to take away his chunk of meat. This fellow deserves special attention from the IRS, even he aknowledges that he should be held to a higher standard.
